Two suspects believed to be involved in this month’s robbery of The Dunes Inn in La Porte County were arrested recently by officers with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office. The Dunes Inn robbery occurred Feb. 23 and within hours, police released information regarding the incident and soon began to receive tips about potential suspects.
Not long afterward, suspects were developed and police quickly arrested 31-year-old Angela D. Sheeler and 25-year-old Demarcus D. Sharp, both of Michigan City. The pair is currently being held in the La Porte County Jail. Sheeler has been charged with Robbery, a Class B felony and Sharp faces charges of Aiding, Inducing, or Causing Robbery, also a Class B felony. Both are scheduled to appear in La Porte County Superior Court I in Michigan City. Their bond has been set at $25,000.
This investigation was a joint investigation between the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan City Police Department. The Michigan City Street Crimes Unit and Michigan City Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Street Team and La Porte County Adult Probation Department also played key roles in this investigation. Tips received by the Sheriff’s Office and Michigan City Police Department enabled law enforcement to make an initial arrest within 16 hours of the commission of the crime.
