An AARP Smart Driver Course will be offered on Tuesday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CT at Community Services of Starke County in Knox.
This is a new and improved course for those over the age of 60. AARP volunteer, David Daley, will conduct the training sessions which have proven effective at reducing driving errors.
Participants will learn safety strategies; understand the links among the driver, vehicle and road environment; learn how aging, medications, alcohol and other health-related issues affect driving ability and ways to adjust to allow for these changes. The newest safety equipment will be explained as well as advanced safety features in vehicles. When driving may no longer be safe will also be discussed.
The cost of the course is $15.00 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. The cost covers the training and the book. If you wish to stay for lunch, $2.00 will be requested for the cost of the meal.
To register, call Patricia Minix, Elderly Services Program Coordinator, at 574-772-7682 by May 15.
AARP members are reminded to bring your membership card to the class.
