The Knox City Council will meet in regular session tonight at Knox City Hall.
The council members are expected to discuss a burn permit for the purpose of ridding timber in the Knox Industrial Park. The approval was tabled at the last meeting as the council members wanted to hear about the project from the contractor, Thomas Excavating, and get more public input on the issue.
Starke County Economic Development Foundation Director Charlie Weaver explained to the council members on April 22 that the permit suggests that the controlled burning would take place over the course of 30 days for timber that spans 32.8 acres.
IDEM has strict restrictions for the burn including the time of day and how to properly extinguish the fire for the day.
The council members will also review the Bass Lake Fire Department mutual aid agreement, plus a pending litigation offer, the first reading of a flood hazard area ordinance, approval of a phone bill for the waste water superintendent, and reports from the clerk-treasurer and Knox Mayor Rick Chambers.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. CT.
