This weekend only, Hoosiers have the opportunity to fish without a fishing license. The Department of Natural Resources has declared all Indiana waters okay to fish in with no license on June 7 and 8. To celebrate free fishing weekend Tippecanoe River State Park in Winamac is hosting a plethora of special events.
Fishing off the dock will start at 10 a.m EDT Saturday morning and is permitted until 5 p.m. At 11 a.m. professional fisherman Greg Zellers will be hosting a program called “Cast Like a Champ” where he will show how to properly cast and give fishing tips. At the nature center a jig tying demonstration will commence at 1 p.m. Kids can construct Huck Finn fishing poles beginning at 2 p.m. at the nature center. Sunday June 8, fishing off the dock is allowed from noon until 4 p.m.EDT There is a onetime $5 admission charge per vehicle for instate residents and a $7 out-of-state charge to get into the park.
