Police never know what they walk into when called out.
LaPorte County police deputies were called to a domestic disturbance at a home in 7200 west block of County Road 125 North on Monday evening. When inside the home officers found what appeared to be homemade explosive devices.
The victim was removed from the home and a search warrant was obtained where the LaPorte County Emergency Response Team responded. The suspect, 54-year-old Robert L. Ofcky, was not at the home when police arrived.
The Porter County Regional Bomb Squad and agents from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were also called to the scene. Officers remained on the scene until 5:30 a.m. today clearing the home of any potential explosives.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office have since presented probable cause testimony in LaPorte County Circuit Court and as a result, a criminal arrest warrant has been issued for Ofcky for Possession of an Explosive Device, a class “C” felony. Ofcky is a white male who 6’3”, 265 pounds with short brown hair and green eyes. He may be wearing eye glasses and may have a goatee. He has the letters “N A N C Y” tattooed on his left fingers.
