The Starke County Historical Society Museum celebrated their 40 year anniversary yesterday. On June 27, 1974 a group of citizens concerned about the preservation of history in the community joined together and began the Historical Society.
Generations since then have been able to learn about the rich history of Starke County thanks to that original collaboration of those interested individuals. Guided tours are available Tuesday through Friday, noon until 4 p.m. If you have a group that would like to visit the museum or other historical sites in Starke County, appointments can be made by calling 574-772-4311 or 574-772-0896.
On Sunday, July 6th the SCHS is hosting an old fashioned ice cream social at their location at 401 South Main Street from 1 until 3 p.m. Swing by for some ice cream and to see all kinds of exhibits inside and outside.
