One of the projects that the staff at the West Central School Corporation hopes to accomplish this summer is the improvements to security at the school.
Superintendent Charles Mellon said the project has been delayed due in part in not being able to retrieve the Secured School Safety Grant money to finish the project.
“We chose to lock all of our doors now and have a camera and an intercom system before anyone from the outside could come in,” explained Mellon. “That project – we were hoping to have done last Christmas, and then we thought it would be done maybe over spring break and now we’re getting into the summer. We have not received this money and it’s a reimbursable grant. You have to get the okay to do it first and then you buy the materials, send it in and get reimbursed for it.”
The grant totaled just over $26,000.
