A LaPorte man police there say robbed the CVS drug store early Saturday morning was arrested a short time after the early morning holdup. Officers responded to an alarm just before 1 a.m. to the store on Lincolnway. An employee told the officers a man came to the pharmacy with a note requesting specific medications.

He said he had a weapon, according to a news release from the police department, but never showed one. The man fled on foot after the employee gave him the drugs. Police found a man who matched the suspect’s description a few minutes later in an alleyway west of the business. They arrested Matthew Martinez, 27, on a charge of robbery as a Level 5 felony. He was also wanted on a felony receiving stolen property warrant. Martinez is jailed on a $15,000 bond in LaPorte.
