A Starke County girl received a new award for outstanding gardening skills at the 4-H Fair. Knox resident Ashlie Fields was named the 4-H grand prize gardening winner. In addition, she was recognized by the fair as the Top Green Leaf 4-H Garden Award winner.
Ashlie received a $25 Visa gift card and plaque. Fields joins more than 90 other county fair 4-H grand prize gardening winners who are now eligible to be considered for one of nine regional Green Leaf 4-H prizes. Regional winners will receive a $50 Visa gift card and trophy.
Public relations and marketing director of Green Leaf, Sasha Stanton recognizes the importantce of youth cultivating an appreciation for gardening and for our earth. She said that 4-H has enriched the lives of youth for countless years and Green Leaf is thrilled to partner with Indiana 4-H Youth Development to encourage young Hoosiers to garden.
