The West Central School Board approved the hire of a new high school assistant principal who will also claim the position of athletic director.
Superintendent Don Street said the new employee is returning to the corporation as a former student.
“Wes Allen, a West Central graduate and who has been the athletic director at Delphi School Corporation, has been hired as our assistant principal and athletic director. We’re excited to have Wes back to the West Central school district and we know he’ll do an outstanding job,” commented Street.
An update on summer projects was also given to the board during this meeting.
“We’re receiving a new telephone system throughout our district and we’re running some underground electric from our high school building to our football facility. We talked about carpet being replaced in some of the rooms in the elementary as well as the middle school. A few other items were our fans, guttering in our pool and the buses are being cleaned out this summer.”
Street also mentioned that the school received a bill in the amount of only $20 from NIPSCO for electric service. The wind turbine was installed in 2012 and continues to power the school.
