Another area festival is planned in a local community, and it begins today. The 20th Annual Wanatah Scarecrow Festival starts with the harvest contest at 3 p.m. CDT. A pork chop dinner, entertainment tent and merchant drawings are all scheduled in the evening to finish off the first day.
Saturday starts with a 5K run and 3K walk at 8 a.m. The parade will run through downtown at 11 a.m. before the rest of the day’s activities continue. Horse-drawn carriage tours, bingo, scarecrow sculpting, a fish fry and karaoke conclude the second day of events.
A pancake breakfast, a car show and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament begin the day on Sunday at 8 a.m. The pedal pull and duck race are highlights to round out the weekend.
