Students from Starke County’s newest school are doing their part to give back to the community. Knox Park Superintendent George Byer says pupils from The Crossing alternative school are working each Friday at the parks.
He says up to 10 youngsters help out each week under the supervision of a staff member from the school. The Crossing serves youngsters who have dropped, been expelled or who have otherwise fallen through the educational cracks. Students from Knox, North Judson-San Pierre and Oregon-Davis are enrolled there. They receive a combination of classroom and vocational education along with optional spiritual counseling.
