IU Health officials are looking for a new strategic partner to serve the health care needs of Starke and LaPorte Counties. Leadership has decided that’s the best approach to create the strongest strategy going forward, according to a news release. IU Health LaPorte Hospital President and CEO G. Thor Thordarson said in a statement, “We have a strong plan for taking care of our community that includes investing in new facilities, best people, and leading-edge technology. We will work with an organization that is as dedicated as we are to this mission.”
A spokeswoman for IU Health told WKVI news additional information about a proposed partnership is not available at this time but stressed it will enhance the hospital’s ability to meet the needs of Starke County residents.
IU Health President and CEO Daniel F. Evans Jr. calls the partnership opportunity “an important next step in the evolution of our organization.”
IU Health La Porte Hospital will seek requests for proposals from both local and national healthcare organizations. The board of directors expects to complete the process and select an additional partner by the end of the year.
