Two Arrested after Vehicle Stops on Tracks

 
 

A trip for two men didn’t go as planned after the car they were in became disabled on train track near Tipton Street crossing in LaPorte.

In the overnight hours on Saturday, LaPorte police were called to the scene where they found a pickup stuck on tracks west of the location, near Detroit Street. The staff in the dispatch center was alerted to contact the railroad and stop all train traffic until the vehicle could be removed.

The two men were still inside the vehicle. They were ordered to leave the vehicle for safety reasons, according to the incident report.

Upon further investigation, officers found that the pair were reportedly intoxicated. The passenger, Brandon Cline, 18 of LaPorte, allegedly told police that he didn’t know how the ended up at their location.

The driver, Joel Lytle, 22 of South Bend, was arrested on three preliminary misdemeanor charges of operating while intoxicated while Cline was arrested for violation of ABC acts, a misdemeanor.
