The inaugural WoodStarke Festival at Wythogan Park in Knox promises a day full of healthy, family fun. A group of volunteers has put together a slate of activities. They will be set to a background of music by local, original bands from genres ranging from bluegrass and bagpipes to hard rock. Performers include Commander, Culver Pipes and Drums, Jerry Nenycz, Damien Acoustics, Adam Combs, Josh Grace, 10 Gauge, Welder and Company, South of Sorrow and Seldom Told.
WoodStarke will also feature an open mic area for anyone who would like to perform. Organizers do ask that musical selections be family friendly. Artists are also encouraged to display their wares during the art in the park portion of the program, and local farmers can bring their fruits and vegetables to sell at the farmer’s market.
HealthLinc’s mobile dental unit will be at Wythogan Park offering dental check-ups for a nominal cost. Appointments are necessary for that service and can be made by calling 574-772-7400.
Other WoodStarke activities include a cornhole tournament, dance and exercise classes, a Moving Starke County Forward One Mile at a Time walk and a countywide scavenger hunt. A kids play area with a bouncy house and face painting will be set up. Healthy snacks will also be offered. Find details about all of the activities on the WoodStarke Facebook page.
