A Knox man was killed Tuesday evening in a head-on collision in on the Jasper-Porter County line. Timothy A. Jacobs, 52, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Porter Regional Hospital, according to a report in the “Northwest Indiana Times.”
His pickup truck was struck head-on by a SUV driven by Julie Dwyer, 43, of Munster on State Road 49 near the Kankakee River. According to the paper, she was seen driving erratically just before the crash happened. Both Jacobs and Dwyer had to be cut from the wreckage. Dwyer was also taken to Porter Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries to her lower leg and scalp. Authorities are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the wreck.
