A habitual traffic violator who is accused of fleeing from police Friday night in Marshall County faces numerous charges. A Marshall County Police patrolman tried to stop a pickup truck on Queen Road north of State Road 110 just before 10 p.m., according to a news release. The truck driver, later identified as Wayne Nichols, led the officer on a short pursuit.
Nichols drove down a long residential gravel lane and struck a concrete embankment, according to police, who say he then tried to flee on foot. Nichols was treated at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for non-life-threatening injuries before being released to the jail. He’s charged with being a habitual traffic violator with a lifetime suspension, possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement.
