Construction for Starke/Pulaski Habitat for Humanity’s fifth home is projected to be finished next month. Starke/Pulaski Habitat for Humanity President Steve Morrison says this house was built in record time compared to the other four. Volunteers donated their Saturdays since Aug. 9th of this year to get the project done just in time for the holidays. Morrison says putting in flooring and painting the walls is the last step to do and that should be completed by the third week in December.
He says these homes are sold to low-income families at no profit and are financed with affordable loans. The owners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat homes for other prospective families. Morrison adds they are always looking for donations to build homes for more people. He says the need is out there and the appreciation from each family has made all the projects worthwhile.
