A ground breaking ceremony is set for Saturday in Hamlet for a new 9,300 square-foot fire house. While some ground has already been moved at the site, just east of the Starke County Fairgrounds on County Road 500-North, the “official” ceremony is set for 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. Construction is expected to start in the spring.
The property, located at 11 West Indiana Avenue, was secured from the Oregon-Davis School Corporation earlier this year. The project is expected to provide the housing for eight fire trucks and an adjacent community center.
