Grants are available from the Pulaski County Drug Free Council for programs that combat marijuana and alcohol abuse. Those are the main issues identified in the council’s three-year comprehensive plan, based on data from the police, prosecutor’s office, probation department and local treatment providers. They found alcohol abuse is on the rise among both juveniles and adults in Pulaski County. Also adult abuse of marijuana is increasing.
The grants will be given early next year to fund programs that address marijuana and alcohol abuse through treatment, prevention and law enforcement. Applications are due by Dec. 31. Find more information online at pulaskicountydrugfree.cfsites.org/Grants. Applications can be requested from council coordinator Mark Hamilton via email to mqhamilton@yahoo.com. Decisions regarding applicants will be made in January 2015 with grants to be awarded in the spring.
