A longtime town of Winamac employee is now looking for work. The town council Monday decided to terminate Town Manager Jim Conner effective immediately. He has been the town manager for the past 15 years. Conner will be paid 33 days of his regular pay and given paid medical benefits through Dec. 30. No other benefits will be given, except those provided by law, specifically accrued vacation, if any, and COBRA.
Council President John Plowman tells WKVI news that the council wanted to give Conner some time at the end of the year to get his affairs in order. He added the new council that will take over in January has plans to move in different directions. He said giving Conner the rest of this year will be better than waiting until January to let him go.
