After a bit of a search, the Town of Winamac now has a new leader at the helm.
It was announced during last night’s regularly scheduled Winamac Town Council meeting that Brad Zellers was offered the Town Manager position. His hire comes after interviews for the position were conducted last week.
Zellers has spent the last 20 years working as the Town’s Wastewater Superintendent. He says work needs to be done to better define some objectives.
“We’ll work on those, address them, research them. There’s a lot of things that haven’t been done for the last couple months that also need to be addressed,” says Zellers. “We’re going to push forward and move on those.”
The Town of Winamac interviewed three candidates after receiving six applications for the position. Town Council members began conducting a search after terminating the employment of previous Winamac Town Manager Jim Conner.
During last night’s meeting, filling the now vacant Wastewater Superintendent position was brought up as needing attention.
Zellers will serve in both the Town Manager and Superintendent roles while the transition is being made. He says he’s confident in his people to help make the change
“I have good workers at the waste water plant so moving up to the Town office to be Town Manager should be an easy transition,” says Zellers. “I’m looking forward to the change, I’m looking forward to working with everybody and move along.”
Zellers was appointed to the role with one abstention.
