The cold weather may be to blame for the death of a woman in LaPorte County. Sheriff’s deputies there were dispatched to an address in the 3500 East block of State Road 4 around 10 a.m.
A farmer who had stopped at the home to plow the driveway found a woman in her 70s outside the residence in the snow. Sheriff’s department officials believe she may have fallen while either getting into or out of her vehicle late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. They suspect she may have suffered from hypothermia and died as a result of exposure to the cold. Foul play is not suspected. The victim’s name has not been released.
