Starke County Commissioners Bless Addition of Second Shift Detective

Starke County CommissionersStarke County Sheriff Bill Dulin plans to add a detective sergeant to work second shift Monday through Friday. He told the county commissioners doing so will give the department a third person to respond to calls and will cut down significantly on overtime. Right now any detective calls outside of the day shift incur overtime wages.

Dulin stresses he’s not asking for a new employee. He plans to post the position internally and test for it. The successful applicant will get a $750 pay increase to accompany the promotion if the Starke County Council approves an amendment to the salary ordinance. Dulin presented the plan to the Starke County Commissioners when they met Monday and received their enthusiastic blessing to proceed. The next council meeting is Monday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m. CST at the Starke County Annex.
