Starke County IT Director Joe Short can purchase a new server for the county and update several obsolete computers. The county council recently approved his request to appropriate funds from their county adjusted gross income tax certified shares. He’s replacing an antiquated server and six Windows XP computers he says pose a security risk to the county’s network.
Short advised he would like to have either a few spare computers available should a machine go down somewhere in the county or funds on hand to buy a replacement. The council members agreed it would be best to keep money available and buy computers as needed rather than keep them on the shelf indefinitely. Short told them he can get a new computer in a day or two if necessary.
