Starke County Sheriff’s Department officials say a man is in custody for having too many traffic violations.
Information released by the department says that the K-9 officer conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday. The vehicle was being driven by John Schacht. Police say they ran his information through Starke County Dispatch only to find that he’s considered a Habitual Traffic Violator.
HTV’s are typically designated when a driver has three or more major traffic violations in a 10 year period.
Schacht was arrested and transported to the Starke County Jail on a charge of Habitual Traffic Violator for Life.
No bond has been set at this time.
