Time is running out for Knox residents and business owners to sign up for the city’s 50/50 sidewalk replacement program. The city will split the cost of new sidewalks with qualified owners. Requests must be submitted to the mayor’s office by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis until available money runs out.
The city street superintendent will measure and inspect the request and either approve or disapprove the work order. After a bid is awarded to a contractor, the property owner will be notified of the cost. Their share of the cost must be paid within 14 days. If it’s not, the project will be placed on the bottom of the work schedule. Once the work is done the street superintendent will inspect it and approve final payment to the contractor.
