In-office absentee voting begins on Tuesday, April 7 for the Knox Municipal Election. The Starke County Election Board this week approved evening in-office voting hours in the second-floor meeting room in the Starke County Courthouse.
In addition to the regular absentee hours from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT, voters may cast ballots on Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday absentee voting hours will be April 25 and May 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those interested in being a poll worker may call Republican Party Chairman Brenda Stanojevic or Democrat Party Chairman Kenny Wallace by April 14. Poll worker training is set for April 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. and April 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a makeup day on May 2 from 10 a.m. to noon. By law, poll workers must attend training. It will take place in the third-floor courtroom.
The May Primary Municipal Election is Tuesday, May 5. City of Knox voters will be voting in the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. The Knox City Council members approved the contract with the Starke County Election Board during their meeting last week.
