The Starke County Prosecutor’s Office is still investigating a case involving several animals. The incident occurred earlier this month in the area of 200 South and 550 North in Starke County. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, officers were called to investigate a report that horses had escaped from their enclosure.
Neighbors were able to corral the animals and return them to the property. A preliminary investigation was conducted which indicated the horses allegedly appeared underfed.
The report compiled by officers, along with photographs of the animals, was passed along to the Starke County Prosecutor’s office to consider charges. Starke County Prosecutor Nick Bourff says the prosecutor’s office requested follow-up interviews be conducted by the officers involved with the investigation. No timeline was given for a possible decision on charges.
