An initiative designed to get youth to visit state, local, and national parks has received the backing of Governor Mike Pence.
The Governor signed a proclamation declaring Saturday as “Kids to Parks” day. The Hoosier state has more than 32 state parks, some of which are hosting special hiking, fishing, and craft programs this weekend.
According to a press release from the Department of Natural Resources, the National Park Trust is asking children to explore their neighborhood parks to learn more about their own communities.
