Knox Company Takes Steps To Reduce Waste

Changing light bulbs and turning off idle equipment are just a few of the steps a local company is taking to limit their energy usage.

MPI Products, located in the 12-hundred block of Kloeckner Drive, has indicated it wants to be a leader in reducing environmental waste in Starke County.

According to a press release from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation, the company will reuse and recycle material used in their daily production.

This isn’t the first time the company, also known as Indiana Fineblanking, has taken such steps. Since 2002, the company has worked to reduce the amount of electricity, and chemicals used in production. Fineblanking typically manufactures parts from metal using punching equipment.

Part of that effort has involved changing the light bulbs used in their facility for greater efficiency. Changes in chemical use are also designed to prevent rust.
