Pulaski Commissioners Assess Fine in Monterey Building Collapse

sportsmans chain link fenceThe Pulaski County Commissioners will be assessing a fine for a building that collapsed in Monterey.

The Commissioners acted as the “hearing authority” for the Town of Monterey – which is required under state statute before additional steps can be taken – for the former Sportsman’s Bar and Grill. The building collapsed in April of this year, but ensuring proper clean-up has proven a laborious task.

Historians Discuss Plans for Lincoln Highway Byway

Lincoln Highway SIGN v4Representatives of the Indiana Lincoln Highway Association met with local historians last week in LaPorte to develop a coordinated plan for the development of a Lincoln Highway “byway.” The “byway” is the route U.S. 30 took when it was first developed in 1913 and then rerouted in 1928. The 1928 update of the highway (old U.S. 30) brought it through Hamlet and Grovertown in northern Starke County.

Culver Finalizing Goals for Coming Years

The Town of Culver is finalizing its five-year action plan.

The document will be included in the Town’s Comprehensive plan and specifies major projects the Town would like to undertake over the next few years. A joint group, consisting of the Town Council, Plan Commission, and Redevelopment Commission has been meeting on a regular basis to develop the goals.
