During their meeting earlier this week, the Eastern Pulaski School Board entertained the idea of adding a few extra positions to their payroll. The school is looking to add a director of curriculum and assessment as well as two summer employees for manual labor.
150 Years of Wanatah Celebrated with Three Days of Festivities
Today is the second day of the weekend long Wanatah Sesquicentennial celebration. The “Times Remembered” historical demonstration tent as well as the kids rides will start up at 10 am in the Wanatah School. Knox Board of Works to Discuss Street Paving Bids
The Knox Board of Public Works will discuss street paving bids during a special-called Monday morning meeting. Last week they opened bids from three companies for work on Lake, East and Potter Streets and Myrtle Court. The paving bids are the lone item on the agenda for Monday’s 9:30 a.m. meeting at city hall.

Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson is urging residents to recognize the symptoms of elder abuse.
June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and the Secretary of State’s office says they are attempting to raise awareness. According to information released by Lawson’s offices, elder abuse can come in several forms.

Sheriff’s Department Catches Trespassing Suspect in Closet, Locate Meth
Starke County Police gave chase during a Thursday incident in North Judson.
According to information released by the Sheriff’s Department, officers were responding to a trespassing call in the 5-thousand South block of Detroiter Lane. After arriving on scene, a suspect was identified and was given an order to stop.

Sex Offender Arrested After Month-Long Investigation
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department says an investigation has led to the arrest of a sex offender.
40-year-old Bob Conley of North Judson was taken into custody on preliminary charges of Sex Offender Registry violations. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Department worked over the course of a month to make the arrest after receiving an anonymous tip.

Starke County Farmers Among 17 to be Featured During State Fair
Several farmers from around the state of Indiana will be featured during this summer’s Indiana State Fair.

Pleasant View Rest Home Auction Planned Later This Month
Items will be auctioned in about one week from one of Pulaski County’s historic venues.
Assets from inside the Pleasant View Rest Home will be sold on June 20th. The county home was shut down due to budgetary constraints earlier this year, but managed to pick up a landmark designation on the National Register of Historic Places.
