The improvement of the downtown area in Hamlet was discussed Wednesday night by the Town Board with business owner Lee Nagai.
Nagai is remodeling a downtown business building and is an advocate for the installation of conduit to serve new street lights in the area over the next several years. The lights may be financed by offering sponsorship to businesses and individuals.
Discussion was also held on the possibility of extending the town’s co-op offer for replacing sidewalks in the downtown area. The improvements are expected to develop new “pride” in the community.
When the Town Park Board convened it reviewed updates on its plans for improvements for the park area, which has suffered from vandalism.
Town Marshal Frank Lonegro reported there were no police incidents during the recent 4-H fair.
