At least one person was flown to the hospital following a Thursday morning crash in Pulaski County.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Base Road at 900 South around 5:04 a.m. to the reported crash with injuries. The Star City Fire Department was called to the scene for the use of extrication equipment.
The police report cites a witness who indicated that a 2007 GMC Sierra, driven by 49-year-old Andrew Howe of Star City was eastbound on 900 South and struck a Chevrolet Venture van driven by 38-year-old April Alma. Witnesses say she ran the stop sign at the intersection of 900 South and Base Road. ran a stop sign at the intersection. Passengers were present.
Both vehicles left the roadway in the incident, ending up in a field according to authorities. One vehicle displayed smoke coming from the engine, though no flames were present.
The nature of the injuries has not been disclosed, but two individuals at the scene reported chest pain and shoulder pain. Pulaski County Authorities continue to assemble information, but say at least one individual was flown to a Fort Wayne Hospital.
Responders cleared the scene around 6:40 a.m.
