The Pulaski County Fair will go on as scheduled next week at the fairgrounds in Winamac. They are located at the back of the town park, which is still closed due to Tippecanoe River flooding. Purdue Extension Pulaski County Director Natalie Federer says a few schedule revisions were made to accommodate weekend activities. Saturday’s achievement program and fashion revue have been moved to the Winamac Nazarene Church. The town park is due to reopen at 2 p.m. on Sunday, so animals will be brought in that afternoon in groups staggered by species.
The livestock shows and auction will all take place as scheduled at the fairgrounds. Federer says parking will be a challenge, as the ground is still quite soggy. As a result, she says absolutely no parking will be allowed on the grass. 4-H members who need to drop off feed or other supplies will be allowed to do so, but vehicles will need to be moved immediately. The fair board and extension office are working on arrangements for a shuttle service between the Winamac Community School Corporation parking lot and the fairgrounds, but as of press time that had not been finalized.
Federer hopes the parking situation will improve as the ground continues to dry out. Updates will be posted on the Purdue Extension Pulaski County Facebook page. Handicap only spots will be available just outside of the gated area next to the brick pavilions in the park.
