The Starke County Council will soon begin work on budgets for the upcoming year. They’ve scheduled workshops with department heads and elected officials on Monday, Aug. 3rd to review spending proposals.
Auditor Kay Chaffins advised the budgets are due to the State Board of Accounts by Nov. 1. The commissioners have set the annual budget hearing for their Sept. 21st meeting. The budget adoption will occur during the Oct. 19th meeting. In prior discussions the council has indicated spending is not likely to increase next year.
