Wet Summer Creates Work for Knox Street Department

City_of_Knox_LogoThe Knox Street Department is trying to keep up with the mosquito population as a result of continued rains. Superintendent Jeff Borg advised the board of works he sprayed extensively Monday night and did some spot spraying last week.

He notes there’s still quite a bit of standing water, which is a prime mosquito breeding ground. Even though the rain has subsided for now, Borg says it will take awhile for things to dry out completely. He expects to spray a couple more times next week. Street department employees have also done quite a bit of mowing and weed killing due to the wet weather.
