The Starke County Commissioners last night accepted resignations from two longtime employees.
Emergency Management Agency Director Ted Bombagetti is leaving the county to take a job with the state. He will serve as the Indiana Department of Homeland Security District Coordinator for the seven-county region that includes Starke. Bombagetti says he will continue to work closely with local officials to ensure the county gets its fair share of resources. He will be based out of his home in Knox and adds he will be available should any needs arise. Bombagetti’s last day with the county is Sept. 9th.
The commissioners also accepted the resignation of information technology director Joe Short. Like Bombagetti he will continue to reside in Starke County, but he has taken a job in South Bend. Short told the commissioners things have settled down now that the new jail is finished and this is an opportune time for him to make the switch. His last day with the county is Sept. 18th, but Short said he will still be available if necessary during the transition.
Both positions will be posted today.
