Several months worth of investigations into burglaries around Starke County led to the recent arrests of three people. Detectives found stolen property at a residence in the 300 block of 500 East in Knox, according to a news release.
Suspects David Spohn, 30, of Knox,and Stephen Danti, 35, of Grovertown, were arrested. A third suspect, Michael Byer, 27, of Grovertown, reportedly resisted arrest and led officers from several agencies on an hour chase through the woods near the Yellow River. K-9 Terror tracked Byer into the river, where he was arrested.
Detectives executed a search in warrant for the residence, garage and a van and reportedly recovered hundreds of stolen items and evidence relating to the crimes.
All three suspects face burglary and theft charges. Byer is also charged with resisting arrest. Additional charges are pending.
Investigators advise most of the items have been returned to their owners, but some still have not been claimed. Any victims of a burglary or theft in Starke County are asked to contact chief detective Rob Olejniczak at 574-772-3771 ext 6.
The Knox and Hamlet Police and DNR assisted with the arrest and apprehension of the three suspects.
