IU Health LaPorte Hospital is holding a free car seat safety check tomorrow afternoon.
Technicians will be checking the seats’ positioning and harnessing and looking for any defects. If seats are defective, free replacement seats will be given.
Organizers say that in addition to improving the safety of local kids, the event will also help seven people become certified safety seat technicians. That’s one step in their goal of having permanent seat fitting stations in LaPorte, Starke, and Marshall counties.
The seat check will be held rain or shine from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. tomorrow in the parking lot at the corner of Tyler and Washington streets in LaPorte. Participants should bring the child and his or her safety seat to the check.
