Don’t miss the 18th annual Monterey Days Festival this weekend. Today’s highlights include karaoke contests for children and adults, a pedal tractor pull, mini excavating rodeo and a K9 demonstration by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
The parade through downtown Monterey starts at 5 p.m. EDT. The Monterey-Tippecanoe Township Public Library is this year’s grand marshal. Look for the WKVI and MAX 98.3 FM station vehicle in the lineup.
The fun continues tomorrow with activities for all ages. The MDF Bike Tour leaves from the town hall at 10 a.m. Bring your own frog or turtle to the 10 a.m. races. They will be followed by potato sack races, three-on-three basketball, a watermelon eating contest and the fireman’s waterball challenge.
Saturday entertainment includes performances from the New Vision Band, Sentimental Journeys and the Nightshift Band, along with a Kalita magic show at the park pavilion. Don’t miss the festival auction of donated items at 4:30 p.m., and cap off the evening with a family-friendly movie in the park at 8:30 p.m. Bring your own chair or blanket.
The car show and cornhole tournament will take place Monday, and the Collins Tasch American Legion Post ox roast/bingo/sal duck race starts at 11 a.m. EDT.
