The Town of North Judson is getting a rebate from its health insurance provider.
Due to a provision in the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies must spend at least 80 percent of premiums on healthcare services. Since Anthem, the town’s insurance carrier, didn’t meet that requirement, the town receives a rebate of $1,097.87.
Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry says North Judson pays 85 percent of the employee premiums, so $933.19 will go back to the payroll medical insurance account. The rest of it will be split among the employees who were enrolled in the plan last year.
The City of Knox was also affected by the provision, receiving its own rebate from Anthem.
