Pulaski County has announced the hire of a full-time Information Technology Director.
The county began the search for a candidate to fill the job after their previous contractor provided notice they would not continue their services at the contract rate. The Pulaski County Commissioners debated the merits of creating the full-time position for a period.
RB Walters was announced as the new hire. Commission President Larry Brady says he can hit the ground running.
“RB Walters had worked for DeGroot Technology for several years so he’s going to be able to jump right in and have a smooth transition,” says Brady.
Previously, Pulaski County purchased a block of hours from their contractor whenever help was needed to set-up or maintain technology.
The Commissioners voted to recommend that a full-time IT Director position be created due to the hours and demands of the job. Being on-call at all hours was cited as a primary challenge.
Walters started the position on September 3rd and, according to the commissioners, has already been needed for issues arising in the Pulaski County Courthouse.
