Starke County EMS has taken in considerably more money to date than this time last year. From January through the end of August the service reported an increase in revenue of $53,000. Officials advise the county commissioners the addition of more paramedics has helped by allowing the county to pick up transfers from IU Health Starke Hospital to other facilities.
Director Keith Emigh is still interviewing paramedics. His ultimate goal is to have enough available to cover all shifts at all three EMS bases in the county.
