Knox mayor Rick Chambers is reminding residents that it’s illegal to burn leaves in the city. He says that with leaves falling, it’s tempting to want to burn them, but he’s asking residents to respect the no burn ordinance.
Instead, the city’s giving residents other options. Knox will have its fall leaf pickup starting next Tuesday. They’re asking residents to place leaves along the side of the street in front of their homes and not to bag the leaves. Residents also have the option of bringing leaves and grass clippings to the city’s compost drop-off area at the corner of Shield and Mound Streets behind City Hall.
