A case involving the ownership of land in Pulaski County was heard Monday before the Indiana Supreme Court.
The case of Bonnell v. Cotner pertains to a land dispute involving a tax sale and a claim of adverse possession. The Pulaski County Circuit Court ruled in favor of Bonnell, but an Appellate court reversed that decision.
A Knox High School graduate is the new Starke County Emergency Management Agency director. The county commissioners last night hired Jacob Lippner to fill the vacancy created by Ted Bombagetti’s recent resignation to take a state position. Lippner wants to raise the profile of the office and ensure good communication between local, state and federal agencies. Continue reading

The issue surfaced last week during a joint session of the Pulaski County Council and County Commissioners. Talks continued during last night’s Commissioners meeting to find space to properly house the animals.

Several items on the agenda for tonight’s Starke County Commissioners meeting pertain to plans for 2016. Tonight’s EMS report includes a request for a pay raise for the director next year. Starke County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler will also ask the commissioners to create new employment positions in the 2016 budget. In other personnel matters, the commissioners will also make an employment offer to a candidate for the emergency management agency director position vacated recently by Ted Bombagetti. The West Central School Board adopted the 2016 budget when they met Thursday evening. Superintendent Don Street says it’s a total of $9.3 million. That includes $400,000 into the rainy day fund and a general fund budget of $6.4 million. West Central’s debt service budget is $797,000, and just over $1 million is allocated for capital projects. The corporation’s transportation budget is $574,000 and bus replacement is about $158,000. Continue reading
