The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department announced additional charges against a man accused of causing injuries related to the death of his uncle.
68-year-old Harold Grise of Fish Lake was found lying on the floor of his residence by his son last Monday. The incident occurred following an alleged altercation with his nephew 43-year-old Eric Minter on the preceding Friday.
Grise was taken to a LaPorte area hospital, receiving treatment for several days before succumbing to his injuries. An autopsy concluded that Grise died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head and neck.
Minter was arrested over the weekend, facing initial charges of Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Neglect of a Dependent.
According to a press release, the lead investigator in the case testified before a LaPorte County Magistrate Judge on Tuesday afternoon. Additional facts were reviewed during that time.
In addition to his initial charges, Minter will now be facing one count of Aggravated Battery, and one count of Involuntary Manslaughter; both felonies.
The second suspect arrested in the case, the sister of the victim Georgia Arvidson, will continue to face charges of Neglect of a Dependent.
Bond for both individuals remains set at $100-thousand.
