LaPorte Police are investigating an incident that occurred early last week after the victim died as a result of the injuries.
Officers were called to a Fish Lake residence after 68-year-old Harold Grise was found lying on the floor by his son. It was learned that Grise was allegedly involved in an altercation with his nephew on the Friday preceding the call.
Grise was taken to IU Health LaPorte Hospital for treatment. According to a press release from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department, Grise allegedly died as a result of the injuries sustained.
An autopsy performed over the weekend confirmed blunt force trauma to the head and neck were the cause of death.
43-year-old Eric Minter was arrested in connection with the incident, as was his mother, 73-year-old Georgia Arvidson. Both are being charged with Neglect of a Dependent with bail set at $100-thousand.
Due to the cause of death, LaPorte County investigators say they will be meeting with the prosecutor’s office to likely file additional charges.
