The Town of Culver held a public hearing Monday afternoon with the hope of eventually applying for grant funds.
A program offered through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs would allow Culver to apply for a Community Development Block Grant. Under the Town of Culver’s plan, $15-thousand in grant funds would be sought for an analysis on the renovation of the Town’s Beach Lodge.
The site has seen a few cosmetic updates in recent years, but is considered to be in need of significant updates on its interior and exterior. The Culver Park Department intends to spend about $4-thousand of its own money to assist with the analysis costs.
If approved by OCRA, part of the funds will benefit low to moderate income families.
The public hearing held on Monday allowed members of the public a chance to provide their thoughts on the grant funds and how they can be used.
Following the public hearing, the matter will now go to the Culver Town Council for final approval before a formal application is delivered.
